Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Week of the Young Child

Children are always at the center of the diverse and engaging programs that keep our friends learning and growing at The Malvern School. Nevertheless, our teachers and families look forward to the Week of the Young Child year after year as a special opportunity to celebrate the value and importance of early childhood education.

Sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the world’s largest early childhood education association, the Week of the Young Child was first initiated in 1971 and has been raising public awareness about early childhood education programs that meet the unique needs of young children ever since.

We are incredibly proud that many of our schools are recognized by NAEYC and that we had the opportunity to help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Week of the Young Child at all of our schools this year.

Take a virtual walk through some of the highlights of the week courtesy of our friends in Blue Bell, Collegeville, Erial, Freehold, Horsham, King of Prussia, Lionville, Marlton, Medford, Montgomeryville, Oaks, Richboro, Royersford, Upper Gwynedd and Voorhees.

Music Monday

Celebrating music as a means to develop language and literacy skills, we started the week moving and grooving, just like our friends in Erial, Freehold, Horsham, Marlton and Oaks.

Tasty Tuesday

Good nutrition. Healthy habits. Math, science and literacy skills tied to cooking. Our friends in Medford, Montgomeryville, Richboro and Upper Gwynedd show us there are many lessons to be learned while enjoying tasty treats.

Work Together Wednesday

Developing social skills is a key element of early childhood education – one that was on full display as our friends in Lionville joined forces to tackle collaborative art projects, puzzles, exercise and other activities together.

Artsy Thursday

As our friends in Blue Bell and Collegeville demonstrate, open-ended art projects help children flex their creativity and fine motor skills, while having a ton of fun!

Family Friday

Acknowledging families as one of children’s most important teachers, The Malvern School of Voorhees rolled out the red carpet, while friends in Royersford crafted hand-made books highlighting favorite family activities, and families in King of Prussia went home with supplies to bake cookies together over the weekend.
