Summer Camp Themes
Theme 1: Nature Ambassadors
What does it mean to be an ‘Environmental Steward’ or an ‘Ambassador of Nature’? This study will be about challenging our children to take ownership and responsibility for caring for the Earth. Children will form an understanding of their carbon footprint, and what they can do to preserve natural resources for future generations. From recycling to gardening to the active investigation of nature’s attributes, children will get hands-on with activities that showcase their stewardship for the environment. Our youngest learners will become caretaking champions of nature with age-appropriate educational experiences that promote an understanding of their responsibility to care for the world and its resources.
Theme 2: Cultivating Creativity
Prepare to get creative and revel in all things imaginative! Throughout this study, children will embark on a journey of creativity, exploring painting, sculpting, building, design, music, and theatre as exciting points of interest Children will explore different mediums as they engage in projects intrinsically powered by their own interests, skills, and styling pursuits. Cultivating creativity will be all about expressing individuality, building self-esteem, and appreciating the processes! Even our youngest learners will actively design, create, and construct with age appropriate mediums focused on the process of engagement!
Theme 3: Community Quests
This topic focuses on deepening connections within us and within the community around us. Activities aim to build self-awareness, agency, confidence, and forge a stronger sense of community within our programs. Children will explore the benefits of teamwork by accomplishing big tasks together and celebrating their achievements as a team, creating a sense of spirit and unity within each of our programs. Mindfulness with respect to our communities, our environment, and our personal wellbeing will also be a focus within this study topic. Even our youngest age groups will explore ‘Community Quests’ through activities that nurture connections with their peers and perseverance with new challenges!
Theme 4: Globetrotting Treks
Children will learn the importance of being part of a growing world community as they engage in activities that inspire curiosity about the world. We will investigate cultural celebrations, geographical wonders, climate variations, environmental differences and diverse animal habitats, all designed to build an understanding of and greater connection with the amazing world around us. Children will adventure through this study, forging the respectful attitudes and mindsets of a global citizen, ready to take on the future! We will introduce even our youngest learners to elements of the natural beauty, diversity and richness of the world and promote that ongoing sense of wonder.
Theme 5: Adventures in STEM
In our current fast-paced and technology-driven times, we want to provide children with tools to lead them down the path of innovation. STEM activities, featuring science, technology, engineering, and math, help to build critical thinking and creativity while facilitating curiosity and exploration for becoming the next generation of changemakers! This study topic will inspire children to identify problems and forge solutions, as they get hands on exploring materials, creating tools, making predictions, and testing ideas through experimentation. Children will excite and delight as they make discoveries and innovate! Our youngest learners will explore ’Adventures in STEM’ with activities designed to foster curiosity, creativity, attention, and communication!
