For Early Childhood Education

The Malvern School of King of Prussia

The Malvern School’s preschool in King of Prussia is conveniently located at the intersection of Henderson and South Gulph Roads, and we have been serving the King of Prussia area since 2004. We are particularly proud of the dedication and diverse teaching styles of our classroom teams. Watching the children grow from Infants to Kindergarten-ready students is a joy, and their success is a true testament to the high level of programming at our preschool. Our early childhood education programs offer much more than traditional King of Prussia daycare and childcare programs. We look forward to helping your child prepare for the future, and we encourage you to schedule a tour of our King of Prussia preschool!

What Parents are saying:

The teachers are extremely loving and the School has such a different feel. It is definitely more of a school feel than those other daycares out there.

—Tara S., King of Prussia

Meet Our Directors

Ericka Gaines, Executive Director

Ericka Gaines is the Executive Director of The Malvern School of King of Prussia. She joined The Malvern School with a passion for early childhood education and nearly 25 years of experience in the field. In her latest role, Ericka worked as the Director of Childcare Information Services for Child Development and Early Learning.

Ericka holds a master’s degree in human services from Lincoln University, where she was recently honored with the “Women of Lincoln” Alumni Award for her powerful leadership for advocacy and change in the community. The Malvern School’s core values and commitment to excellence is what brought Ericka to The Malvern School, as she uses them as her guiding principles each day.

In her free time, Ericka enjoys spending time with her close-knit family, learning new things, and traveling to the beach. She is also an avid reader and has a great sense of humor! Her favorite children’s books are “Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch and “The Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats.

Chelsey Oakley, Assistant Director

Chelsey Oakley is the Assistant Director at The Malvern School of King of Prussia. Chelsey holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Long Island University and a range of leadership experience in early childhood education.

Chelsey’s proudest moment of her professional career was becoming an Assistant Director and taking part in opening a brand-new childhood education center which she was able to watch flourish. The creativity teachers have when customizing their curriculum is by far Chelsey’s favorite aspect of The Malvern School’s program and is what she believes sets us apart.

Outside of school, Chelsey enjoys cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her family. Fun fact! Chelsey was a Division 1 volleyball player in college- go Chelsey! Chelsey’s favorite children’s book is “Giraffes Can’t Dance” by Giles Andreae.

Desiree Shapiro, Assistant Director

Desiree Shapiro is the Assistant Director at The Malvern School of King of Prussia. After graduating from Holy Family University, Desiree kick-started her career in early childhood education at The Malvern School. Desiree began as a Lead Teacher and with time took on different leadership roles such as Health & Safety Coordinator, Curriculum Coordinator, and beyond. After years of dedication to The Malvern School program, Assistant Director was a natural next-step for Desiree as she proved to be a leader among the school.

The proudest moments of Desiree’s career happen not only when she watches a child learn and grow, but when she is able to watch their families grow as well. Desiree loves how much The Malvern School values their teachers by hiring educated professionals. She also enjoys all the special days and visitors (we can’t blame her!)

In her free time, Desiree enjoys reading and cooking, spending time with her family, and binging a good Netflix show! When she was younger, Desiree wanted to grow up to be a teacher and her favorite subjects were public speaking and art. Her favorite children’s book is “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein.
