Summer Lander, Director of Education
Summer Lander is the Director of Education at The Malvern School of Freehold. Summer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from Cal State Monterey and a Master of Science degree in early childhood education from Cal State East Bay. She has more than a decade of experience in early childhood education and joins the Freehold team from a preschool in Colts Neck, NJ where she was the Director. Prior to that, she was an assistant director at a NAEYC-accredited school in San Francisco and she was also a toddler teacher in Seattle and New Zealand.
Summer’s proudest moment of her professional career was receiving a NAEYC re-accreditation the same day as picture day! She finds The Malvern School’s commitment to literacy to be a strong foundation for early childhood education. She understands how books and reading can deepen a child’s understanding of the world and spark imagination and creativity.
During her free time, she enjoys reading, going to concerts and traveling. Fun fact about Summer: in addition to visiting 46 out of the 50 states, the farthest south she has traveled was Stewart’s Island, New Zealand and the farthest north was Anchorage, Alaska! Wow! She is on the go! Summer’s favorite children’s book is “In the Tall, Tall Grass” by Denise Fleming.
