Summer Camp Checklist

Less than a week until Summer Camp kicks off on Monday, June 21!

If your child isn’t signed up yet, there’s still time to enroll! Just contact your local school. Hurry because space is limited!

Make sure your little one is prepared with everything they need for 10 weeks of warm-weather fun with the handy checklist of essentials and nice-to-haves below. (Hint: you probably already have everything they’ll need!)

Camper Must-Haves:

  • Sunscreen
If you haven’t already, please bring in a bottle of your child’s sunscreen that can be kept at school, and fill out a sunscreen authorization form, which will allow your child’s teachers to apply the sun lotion for afternoon outside play. All kids should come to school/camp already wearing sunscreen for outside play in the morning.

  • Bathing Suit
Any type of bathing suit goes! While not required, rash guards (swim shirts) are usually popular for extra sun protection.

  • Water Shoes
Water shoes will help keep your camper comfortable on water play days. For their safety, all shoes must fit securely, be closed-toe (no flip flops or Crocs) and worn at all times.

  • Towel
Campers only need to bring a towel on water play days. On those days, towels will go home with campers to be washed.
  • Face Masks
While face masks are no longer required for outdoor play, they are required while indoors (except during meal times and naps). Don’t forget to keep an extra mask or two in your child’s backpack for backup!

Camper Nice-to-Haves:

  • Hat
Many parents pack a summer hat for their children, even if they don’t wear it every day, for extra sun protection when it’s needed.
  • Sunglasses
A pair of shades always comes in handy for the bright summer sun. Try to make sure they fit properly so they aren’t bothersome to your child, and don’t forget to label them (try on the inside of the leg of the glasses), just like everything else your camper brings!

  • Insulated Water Bottle
If your child’s everyday water bottle isn’t insulated, you may want to consider purchasing one that is to keep water and ice extra cool throughout the day.

As a reminder, The Malvern School provides all campers:

  • A super cool and comfortable camp t-shirt (to be worn on designated days)
  • A camp bag or backpack, perfect for wet gear on water play/swim days and field trips (for Junior Campers)

If you have specific questions about camp gear or our Summer Camp Program in general, please speak with your Director.

Here’s to a great summer!
