Reading to your young child is essential for their development. At The Malvern School we have a strong commitment to literacy through several programs for children of all ages. In addition to our author of the month and a focus on monthly themes, we also host several Mrs. Bush’s Story Times throughout the year.
Here are just a few of our favorite books that belong in your young child’s library! 
- Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak – This award-winning classic children’s book is loved by both children and adults alike. The illustrations carry the reader through the wonderful imaginary world of Max and the ‘Wild Things’.
- The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein – This picture book is a tender story of a relationship between a boy and a tree. The beautifully written and illustrated story explores the relationship between giving and taking.
- The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg – Our Author of the Month for December is Chris Van Allsburg. Along with Chris’ calm and relaxing storyline, the illustrations in this book have been critically acclaimed. Now a classic Christmas story, The Polar Express tells the story of a young boy’s mysterious journey to the North Pole.
