A longstanding supporter of the fight against childhood cancer, The Malvern School is thrilled to announce it has raised more than $1 million for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) since establishing a philanthropic partnership with the national childhood cancer foundation in 2008. Year after year, The Malvern School community rallies together to raise awareness and funds for the cause while also enabling young children to learn hands-on about the importance of philanthropy. This year’s fundraising efforts alone totaled $100,000, surpassing The Malvern School’s 2021 goal of $75,000. “This incredible milestone represents years of very hard work by our Directors, teachers, staff, students, families and partners, and our shared passion to help children and families affected by such an awful disease,” says Kristen M. Waterfield, founder & CEO of The Malvern School. “This shows just how much good we can do when we all work together. It also highlights the important lesson that everyone – even the youngest members of our community – can make a real difference, one cup at a time.” The $100,000 raised by The Malvern School in 2021 is supporting more than 2,000 hours of pediatric cancer research. Since 2008, The Malvern School has helped fund more than 20,000 hours of research, leading toward cures and improved quality of life for children with cancer, and contributed to programs like SuperSibs and Travel For Care that help families dealing with a childhood cancer diagnosis. The Malvern School’s fundraising efforts have included lemonade stands, art auctions, raffles, carnivals, school-wide events and much more at its 27 schools in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as sponsorship of CBS3’s Annual Alex Scott: A Stand for Hope Telethon. At the core of every effort are learning opportunities designed to promote character development for young children and teach them about the value of giving back to help others.     About The Malvern School The Malvern School, founded in 1998, is a year-round private preschool for children six weeks to 12 years old. The Malvern School believes in developing the whole child in a nurturing, yet engaging environment and offers an innovative curriculum that has raised the bar in early childhood education. Today, The Malvern School has 25+ locations throughout southeastern Pennsylvania and central and southern New Jersey and is dedicated to providing curriculum that is designed to meet or exceed the highest standards established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the nation’s largest early childhood accrediting organization. About Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of 4-year-old Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who was fighting cancer and wanted to raise money to find cures for all children with cancer. Her spirit and determination inspired others to support her cause, and when she passed away at the age of 8, she had raised $1 million. Since then, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement. Today, ALSF is one of the leading funders of pediatric cancer research in the U.S. and Canada raising more than $200 million so far, funding over 1,000 research projects and providing programs to families affected by childhood cancer.
