The Malvern School® Raises $125,000 in 2022 to Help Children with Cancer

Students, staff, families and partners squeeze together to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and cure pediatric cancer

Having raised more than $1 million for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) since their philanthropic partnership began, The Malvern School continues to support the fight against childhood cancer in a big way. In 2022, The Malvern School’s students, staff, families and partners squeezed together to raise $125,000 for the cause – surpassing their fundraising goal of $100,000 by 25 percent! The Malvern School team presented the donation to Liz Scott, Alex’s mom and ALSF Co-Executive Director, at an awards presentation on December 13.

“One of the gifts Alex gave us is the idea that kids can be a part of solving problems in the world. We truly appreciate that The Malvern School has carried that forward with their students. They’re giving that gift to so many young kids,” says Scott. “The ultimate gift is that with support like this, we’ve been able to cure kids who were not cured before.”

In addition to the check presentation, the awards ceremony recognized:

  • Top School Contributor: The Malvern School of Glen Mills
  • MVP: The Malvern School of Marlboro
  • Crow for a Cause Fundraising Winner: The Malvern School of Upper Gwynedd
  • All Malvern School locations that reached their 2022 fundraising goals
  • Top Corporate Partner: MacMain Law

“This incredible effort is all about the children, and it wouldn’t be possible without our Directors, teachers and staff who go above and beyond to make it all happen,” says Kristen M. Waterfield, Founder and CEO of The Malvern School. “Their passion for the cause is what brings our communities together and teaches our students that every person – and every ounce of support – makes a difference.”

Since 2008, The Malvern School has helped fund nearly 23,000 hours of research, leading toward cures and improved quality of life for children with cancer. Its fundraising efforts have also contributed to programs like SuperSibs and Travel For Care that help families dealing with a childhood cancer diagnosis.

About Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of 4-year-old Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who was fighting cancer and wanted to raise money to find cures for all children with cancer. Her spirit and determination inspired others to support her cause, and when she passed away at the age of 8, she had raised $1 million. Since then, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement. Today, ALSF is one of the leading funders of pediatric cancer research in the U.S. and Canada raised more than $250 million so far, funding nearly 1,000 research projects and providing programs to families affected by childhood cancer.
