The Malvern School Raises More Than $110,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and Fight Against Pediatric Cancer

Kristen Waterfield, President of The Malvern School presents Liz Scott, Co-Executive Director of Alex’s with a check for $113,905.85.

GLEN MILLS, Pa. The Malvern School, a leader in early childhood education, is excited to announce that it has surpassed its 2017 fundraising goal of raising $110,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) and its fight against pediatric cancer.

The Check Presentation ceremony included a special recognition of four-and-a-half-year-old Malvern School student Annabelle Dolfi, who raised $840 for ALSF and is the school’s Top Individual Child Fundraiser. In 2016, Annabelle was diagnosed with cancer, which today is in remission.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of The Malvern School and ALSF’s partnership, and the school’s commitment to support ALSF’s mission to fund research into new treatments and cures. In addition to pledging community service efforts to ALSF, The Malvern School also integrates it into the curriculum to further educate the children. From character building and value demonstrations, The Malvern School ensures that all fundraising on behalf of ALSF involves the children and inspires them to make a difference for all children with cancer and their communities. To commemorate this milestone year, students, families and teachers from all 25 school locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey stepped up to meet the goal of successfully raising $113,905.85.

“For the past 10 years, we have been honored to commit to an organization such as Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation,” stated Malvern School President and Co-Founder, Kristen M. Waterfield. “Our partnership is more than a philanthropic pledge. It’s a commitment to carry on Alex Scott’s legacy of hope for all children battling childhood cancer, but it is also a promise to the children and families that attend The Malvern School to provide them with the many opportunities to teach and instill excellent community values.”

Since partnering with ALSF in 2008, The Malvern School has raised more than $640,000. The legacy began when founder, and then four-year old, Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996–2004), held her first lemonade stand in her front yard inspiring her namesake foundation and a legacy of hope to find a cure for childhood cancer.

About The Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $140 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 690 pediatric cancer research projects nationally.
