Artist of the Month: Claude Monet

At The Malvern School, our art programs are based on process-focused art experiences. We find that providing young children with the freedom to create art without too much direction encourages imagination and opens up their creativity. The end product is unique and original, and the child finds the experience to be calming and relaxing.

Our Artist of the Month program is designed to expose children to various artists’ styles, mediums and different creative processes. This month, our lesson plans and art projects were based on the very talented and famous artist, Claude Monet. Monet was one of the founders of the French Impressionist movement and his philosophy of expressing one’s perception of nature came through in almost all of his works of art.

Throughout the month of December, Friends at all The Malvern Schools had the opportunity to learn about Monet and participated in art experiences that encouraged the expression of their own interpretation of nature – just like Monet!

The Collegeville Pre-K class created their own masterpieces based off of Monet’s famous “Water Lilies” painting.

Our Young Toddlers at The Malvern School of Warrington used watercolors to create their own floral design.

The Malvern School of Malvern used orange, red and blue dot markers to recreate Monet’s painting, “San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk.”

Our Friends at Oaks used watercolors to paint their own nature scene like Monet.
