The Malvern School Celebrates 15 Years of Fighting Pediatric Cancer with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation
Leading child care provider raises more than $90,000 in 2024
Glen Mills, Pa. – November 14, 2024 – Life lessons make a lasting impression on children when they have opportunities to get involved. That’s the idea behind The Malvern School’s character-building curriculum and philanthropic partnership with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), which takes a hands-on approach to teaching young children about the importance of giving back. Putting these lessons into action, Malvern School students and staff across 27 locations raised $91,072.73 in 2024 to help ALSF support children fighting cancer. The Malvern School, a part of the Busy Bees Family and one of the largest child care providers in North America with more than 225 schools across Canada and the United States, presented this donation to ALSF at an awards presentation on Thursday, November 14 at the Radisson Hotel Northeast in Trevose.
“I see my daughter, Alex, in every one of these students from The Malvern School, as they raise money to help fund critical research and treatments for kids with cancer,” said Liz Scott, ALSF’s co-executive director and mother to ALSF founder, Alex Scott. “The fight continues, but Alex’s spirit and mission of finding cures for all kids is carried on in a deeply meaningful way by these young children, educators, and families, making a powerful impact in the fight against childhood cancer. We are so grateful to be partnered with The Malvern School community that is coming together to make a difference.”
In 2024, The Malvern School celebrated 15 years of supporting ALSF, a commitment that goes beyond fundraising and brings giving back into the classroom and teaches lifelong lessons. This year’s fundraising activities included hosting lemonade stands, lemon relays, art auctions, family dining events, carnivals, and more.
With this donation, The Malvern School community has raised more than $1.3 million in total for the cause. This support has funded more than 25,000 hours of research, leading toward cures and improved quality of life for children with cancer. The Malvern School’s donations have also contributed to programs like SuperSibs and Travel for Care that help families dealing with childhood cancer diagnosis.
In addition to the check presentation, the ceremony recognized:
- Highest School Contributor: The Malvern School of Blue Bell
- MVP: The Malvern School of Downingtown
- Crow for a Cause Fundraising Winner: The Malvern School of Washington Township
- All Malvern School locations that reached their 2024 fundraising goals: Malvern, Erial, Washington Township, West Norriton, Horsham, Downingtown, Montgomeryville, Upper Gwynedd, Oaks, Medford, Robbinsville, Westtown and Valley Forge
“The efforts of our school community from our teachers, Directors, staff, and families represent an enormous amount of dedication to teaching our students that even our youngest community members can make a big difference,” says Kristen M. Waterfield, Founder and President of The Malvern School. “The lessons and experiences of this program will stay with them as they continue to grow and put more good out into the world.”

About Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of 4-year-old Alexandra "Alex" Scott, who was fighting cancer and wanted to raise money to find cures for all children with cancer. Her spirit and determination inspired others to support her cause, and when she passed away at the age of 8, she had raised $1 million. Since then, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement. Today, ALSF is one of the leading funders of pediatric cancer research in the U.S. and Canada raising more than $250 million so far, funding over 1,000 research projects and providing programs to families affected by childhood cancer.
