Spotlight on Colleen Friel

  • Role: Assistant Teacher
  • Classroom: Get Set
  • Location: The Malvern School of Warrington
  • Malvern School Employee Since: 2019
With a remarkable 30 years of experience in early childhood education, Ms. Colleen initially set her sights on joining The Malvern School family because of its excellent reputation in the field. Since coming onboard with The Malvern School of Warrington in 2019, she now says her fellow teachers and Directors as well as the children and families that she interacts with on a daily basis are what keep her so devoted to her career.

What do you love most about The Malvern School?

CF: I truly love the people I work with. Our team is the best of the best. I know I can count on them, and they know they can count on me. The pandemic has tested each and every one of us but weve worked through it together as a team. Im proud and grateful to work with such caring, thoughtful people. I cant forget the children either. Without them, my days would be boring! Theyre so much fun and give me so much unconditional love.

How does The Malvern School support teachers?

CF: The Malvern School knows that while our jobs are rewarding in so many ways, it can also be difficult at times. They acknowledge that and do things to support us, like giving us extra days off to relax and recharge. Our Directors also treat us to lunches and special surprises throughout the year. As an employee, I feel supported by our Directors and know that I can come to them for anything I may need.

What else stands out about your Malvern School team?

CF: We have a very caring staff who goes above and beyond for the children and their families. Our teachers and assistants work hard every day to ensure that children are cared for and have a fun and educational day. I have seen many children not want to go home at the end of the day thats a testimony to the care and dedication that we as teachers invest in the children. They feel so safe and secure and are having so much fun that they dont want to leave!
