What is the proudest moment of your time at The Malvern School?

When a student was struggling with spelling and writing his first name, I worked with him to come up with a song that would help. After some practice, he was able to write his name on a picture that he drew. When he gave it to me, I almost cried! I added it to a board I have at home that reminds me of all the proud moments I’ve had in my classroom.

What do you like most about our program or what do you think sets us apart?

I appreciate that The Malvern School has a family atmosphere. We have the opportunity to get to know not only the children, but their parents and siblings as well. It’s a pleasure to be their last stop before heading off to Kindergarten and to be able to reflect with their families on all of the milestones they celebrated with along the way- from their first steps to reading their first words.

What do you enjoy in your free time?

My favorite place to travel is the Outer Banks and I visit North Carolina every year with my family. I also enjoy cooking and baking for family and friends.

Any unique or fun facts about yourself?

In college I donated 14 inches of my hair to Locks of Love, an organization that makes hairpieces for children who have lost their hair due to medical treatments.

What is your favorite children’s book?

My favorite children’s book is Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson.
