Learning about S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) isnt just for the classroom. In fact, there are no better places than the great outdoors and out in the real world to explore these oh-so-important subjects. Thats why were focusing on the theme of S.T.E.A.M. into Summer! for Weeks 1 and 2 of summer camp! S.T.E.A.M. activities are a great way to transition children from the school year into summertime fun and provide immense educational value through play-based learning. Check out some of the highlights from the first week of camp at our schools in Royersford, Malvern and Oaks and see what happens when S.T.E.A.M. meets summer camp! Our Senior Campers at The Malvern School of Royersford took a field trip to Home Depot with a plan to create a sprinkler for the sensory table. They held a scavenger hunt to find all of the necessary supplies and even did a mock build in the store. They will continue working next week to complete the sprinkler for all to enjoy![/caption] [caption id="attachment_5298" align="aligncenter" width="599"]
Another day, the Royersford Senior Campers constructed foil boats and built a foil river in the grass. When they tested out their boats in the river, they discovered the bumpy grass surface made it difficult to float the boats. They then made another river on the sidewalk and concluded the smoother surface helped with the water flow.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_5299" align="aligncenter" width="350"]
The Mini Campers in Royersford had their own fun making bouncing and unpoppable bubbles. They made the solution by mixing water, dish soap and corn syrup together. Once they blew a bubble, they were able to catch it and then bounce it up with their hands. They experimented with using gloves and found that to be even more successful![/caption] [caption id="attachment_5300" align="aligncenter" width="450"]
Junior Campers at The Malvern School of Malvern learned about cause and effect and basic principles of physics with the help of stomp rockets that they had flying high![/caption] [caption id="attachment_5301" align="aligncenter" width="488"]
The campers at The Malvern School of Oaks have had their hands full! Mini Campers had a blast making their very own glitter slime while Senior Campers took a field trip to Legoland where they constructed railways, buildings and more![/caption] What a week! Connect with us on
