Music, art, food, family and more is in store for our friends at The Malvern School as we kick-off the Week of the Young Child! The Week of the Young Child is an annual week-long celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) to spotlight early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities. This celebration is to spread awareness about the importance of high-quality early learning, and the critical role early childhood educators play in a childs development- something The Malvern School looks forward to all year! Starting April 8 th, each day will hold a different theme to excite our young learners and spark imagination from our educators. Children will take part in special activities each day to enrich their learning experience about the daily theme and have fun while doing it! Together, we will enjoy music, explore food and cooking, build together, create art, and celebrate their families. We encourage you to continue these lessons at home throughout the week to make this experience extra special for you and your child. Take a sneak peek at whats in store:
  • Music Monday- Week of the Young Child starts on a high note with a musical day! When children sing, dance, and listen to music, they develop their language and early literacy skills while being active. Activities may include playing instruments, reading about music, listening to special musical guests, or even performing a song themselves!

  • Tasty Tuesday- A focus on healthy eating and fitness takes place during a fun, food-themed day. Students may try different healthy snacks, learn about portion control, have a picnic, or make their own meal, yum!

  • Work Together Wednesday- Teamwork is a highlight as children work together to build and create something new while developing their social skills. The possibilities are endless!

  • Artsy Thursday- Children develop creativity, social skills, and fine motor skills with open-ended art projects where they can make choices, use their imaginations, and create with their hands. Masterpieces from all schools are sure to surface throughout the day!

  • Family Friday- Last but certainly not least, Week of the Young Child wraps up with celebrating young childrens first and most important teachers- family. Families will be invited to join their child at school to make precious memories. Family Friday will be a day to remember!
