Written by The Malvern School | Jul 15, 2024 2:14:54 PM
Our artist of the month is Alexander Calder American sculpture and the originator of the mobile a type of moving sculpture made with delicately balanced or suspended shapes that move in response to touch or air currents. Today, mobiles are popular in nurseries and are known to provide entertainment and visual stimulation to infants. Calder was also well-known for his monumental stationary sculptures called stabiles. Friends at all The Malvern Schools had fun in January creating sculptures from clay and play dough, and experienced with creating mobiles for their classrooms. Learning Connection - Speak with your child about balance. Alexander Calder was challenged with creating balance on his mobiles. Stand on one foot, balance, and count to three!   [caption id="attachment_3177" align="aligncenter" width="650"] Friends at The Malvern School of Collegeville worked together to create mobiles.[/caption] Do you LIKE us on Facebook?
