While many things at school are different this summer, theres a lot that hasnt changed, including our commitment to helping children develop strong character values and our dedication to helping fight childhood cancer. The Malvern School is extremely proud to be a longstanding partner of Alexs Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF). Even though our traditional lemonade season was disrupted due to COVID-19, we declared August 4, 2020 Alexs Day to squeeze together at a safe distance, of course and support the cause. Each of our school communities marked the occasion with fun, engaging activities designed to support lesson plans focused on compassion, empathy and the value of helping others, as well as to further Alexs hope of finding a cure for pediatric cancer. Here are some of the highlights from Alexs Day at our locations in Downingtown, Horsham, Marlton, Newtown Square, Oaks, Upper Gwynedd and Washington Township. Learning how a major movement to change the lives of children with cancer all began, our classes read Alex and the Amazing Lemonade Stand, a true story about Alex, written by her parents (with Alex's help).[/caption]

We couldnt host our usual lemonade stands this year, but our friends practiced setting up shop and made lemonade for all to enjoy (with some taste testing lemons along the way!).[/caption] [caption id="attachment_9512" align="aligncenter" width="876"]
Did you know lemons are a great tool for art projects? We had tons of fun creating art with lemon stampers and multi-colored paint![/caption] [caption id="attachment_9513" align="aligncenter" width="873"]
From playing Lemon, Lemon, Sugar (a take on Duck, Duck, Goose) to practicing a lemon toss, there was no shortage of themed games to keep our friends active while learning.[/caption]
In addition to the days lessons and fun, we also raised awareness for ALSF and got our communities involved in supporting the cause. We launched
our virtual lemonade stand and began collecting donations all of which go directly to ALSF and the incredible work they do. Since 2005, ALSF has helped researchers, scientists and doctors get closer to a cure than ever before, raising more than $200 million to fund over 1,000 research grants. The Malvern School is proud to have raised more than $900,000 to fight pediatric cancer over the past 11+ years and we are extremely appreciative of donations made at this time. If you would like to donate on behalf of your child or their school, simply:
