The Malvern School Founder & CEO is recognized among influential businesswomen in the region

In recognition of her leadership over the past two decades, the Philadelphia Business Journal has named The Malvern School CEO & Founder Kristen M. Waterfield one of its 2020 Women of Distinction. The Women of Distinction program honors women in the business community who are blazing a trail in their respective businesses, are respected for accomplishments within their industries, give back to the community, and are sought out as respected advisors and mentors within their field of influence. “In building a purpose-driven business, Kristen has had a profound impact on communities in Greater Philadelphia and beyond – shaping the education of nearly 40,000 young children, empowering parents to embrace their careers and other passions, providing enriching career opportunities for thousands of educators and giving back in a big way to those in need,” says Debbie Martin, Director of Operations at The Malvern School. “She is the epitome of what it means to lead by example, and this honor could not be more well deserved.” Waterfield founded The Malvern School with Joe Scandone in 1998 to raise the bar in early childhood education. Delivering high-quality, individualized programming, she fueled The Malvern School to become the largest privately owned preschool in Greater Philadelphia with 27 locations in PA and NJ. “As we elevate the national discussion around child care and early education, I'm incredibly honored to be recognized as one of this year's Women of Distinction,” says Waterfield. “Early childhood education plays an unmistakably critical role for young children, working families and the economy, and it’s my privilege to represent our Malvern School team, as well as the field at large, with this recognition.” Most recently, Waterfield has been spearheading The Malvern School’s COVID-19 response, including implementing comprehensive health and wellness measures to continue providing a critical service that families throughout the region rely on. She has also driven the rollout of the Malvern Virtual Partnership (MVP) Program to help school-aged (K-4) children navigate distance learning. Waterfield and other honorees will be recognized at the 2020 Women of Distinction virtual award program on November 12. To learn more, visit https://bit.ly/2GyOwTw.
