In recognition of its steadfast support in the fight against childhood cancer,
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) – a nonprofit dedicated to finding cures for all children with cancer – presented The Malvern School with the 2022 Alex Scott Crystal Cup Award at the 16
th Annual Lemon Ball on Friday, March 4. “The Malvern School’s belief that children have the power to make a difference, and outstanding commitment to continuing ALSF’s mission over the past 13 years, are why we are delighted to present The Malvern School with the 2022 Alex Scott Crystal Cup Award,” the foundation stated. The Malvern School has been a proud supporter of ALSF since 2008. Each year, all of its schools raise awareness and money to fund research for new treatments for children with cancer through various events, raffles, partnerships and a yearly Lemonade Stand Day. These activities are all designed to help young children learn hands-on about the importance of giving back and are complemented by curriculum focused on compassion, empathy and philanthropy. By rallying support among families, teachers and staff, The Malvern School has raised more than $1 million for ALSF, including more than $100,000 in 2021 alone. This significant fundraising effort has funded 20,000 hours of research, leading toward cures and improved quality of life for children with cancer. It has also contributed to programs like SuperSibs and Travel For Care that help families dealing with a childhood cancer diagnosis. “Like everything we do at The Malvern School, our partnership with ALSF is all about the children: children who deserve a cure and children at our schools who are learning life-long lessons about helping others,” says Kristen M. Waterfield, Founder and CEO of The Malvern School. “We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved as a community with ALSF. We are honored to receive this coveted award and remain committed to supporting this cause that’s near and dear to our hearts.”
